DC Cables β How to decide from plansetAUTO
1 Long + 1 Short
Panel A Panel B
[===J===] [===J===]
\ /
short\ /long
[MICRO]
Best for: Portrait panels
Micro centered under 2 panels. One J-box is close (short 380mm), other is far (long 1010mm).
2 Long (Safe Default)
Panel A Panel B
[====J====][====J====]
\ /
long \ / long
[MICRO]
Best for: Landscape or unsure
Both J-boxes are far from micro center. Also use this if you can't tell from planset.
2 Short (Close Mount)
[Panel A] [Panel B]
[==J==] [==J==]
\ /
short \ / short
[MICRO]
Best for: Portrait, micro near J-boxes
Both panel J-boxes are within 380mm (~15in) of micro. Rare β only when micro is mounted very close.
AC Trunk Cable β Measure distance between adjacent microsAUTO
Small 1.2m (47.2in)
Portrait 60-cell panels
Micro-to-micro gap < 47in. Typical with portrait-mounted ~40in-wide panels + small gap.
Medium 2.0m (78.7in)
Landscape 60-cell / Portrait 72-cell
Micro-to-micro gap 47-78in. Common with landscape-mounted standard panels.
Large 2.35m (92.5in)
Landscape 72-cell / Large panels
Micro-to-micro gap > 78in. Use when unsure β never wrong to go bigger.
How to measure from planset: Distance = panel width in installed orientation + gap between panels. Example: 41in panel (portrait) + 2in gap = 43in β Small. If landscape: 69in panel + 2in gap = 71in β Medium.
Check planset β which side does the last micro in each string connect to the combiner? Default Left if not clear.

Generac BOM Generator
PWRmicro + PWRcell 2 β Platinum Pricing Engine
This tool was built with love and dedication by a Generac fan who believes in the power of clean energy and great engineering.
The goal is simple: make it fast, easy, and accurate to generate Bills of Materials for Generac PWRmicro solar + PWRcell 2 battery systems β with real Platinum pricing, intelligent cable selection, and detailed analysis reports.
We hope the engineering community will collaborate to improve this tool over time. Use the Design Rules tab to share observations, suggest improvements, and help refine the BOM engine for everyone.
Together, we make solar better. βοΈ
